The Ghost
at the Ladybug House
A friendly ghost was active in the Ladybug House for many years. They could be heard late at night, meandering around the hall between the kitchen and the bathroom; at the back of the house. Friendly, as there did not seem to be any malice or darkness when it came to the ghost. If one were to hear the bumps in the night, and venture downstairs to check it out, the sounds would stop. There were a couple times that the built-in hutch in the dining room had its doors open by themselves.
Â
The best trick the ghost liked to share was the unrolling of the toilet paper. At random times, the toilet tissue could be (unrolled) and laid out in a soft, layered pattern on the floor. Usually to the end or almost the end of the roll. As seen in the photos, the roll does like the left side of the rod it's housed in, but many attempts at getting it to unroll itself were unsuccessful.

There was a period of about four years that the Ladybug House was inhabited by a group of genius scientists. They too know the ghost and had similar experiences. They left a beautiful, hand-made art-book that dedicated a page to the toilet tissue trickster.

After the scientists vacated, a brilliant Reiki master performed a spiritual sage cleaning of the Ladybug House. Unfortunately, the complete cleaning not only removed the love that had been poured into the Ladybug House for decades, but the ghost also decided to move on. The hope is that they were released to a better place, their soul no longer stranded on Prescott Street!

After some research at the Pasadena History Museum, one theory suggests that a George Stinton a dairyman by trade lived in the house. It is possible Mr. Stinton had an accident in the bathroom, or near that part of the house. Their remains lie in a private tomb in the mausoleum at Mountain View Cemetery, Altadena; just a couple miles away.Â
